Yellow Ribbon

darkness envelopes as she sits in her chair before the fire light flickers dispassionately on her still form perhaps–had she known she would have cried out in rage or grief maybe silent tears would have fallen on her hands still, she sits a quandary of a smile playing on her face she may be remembering how he looked in his hat, pressed suit white gloves, bright metals catching her kisses boarding the ship parting salute sailing into the horizon with the sun on his back and the moon low in the sky his letters are strewn on the floor by her feet a yellow ribbon caught on the strap of her shoe and she forgets how his last breath was stolen in enemy seas the fire looks hazy through elderly eyes sometimes yesterday overshadows today shadows and darkness take over the mind synapses misfire she smiles still feeling his arms around her last night when he called out her name and she knows any moment he is coming home.

Twisted

"No!" She cried although it was too late Romeo drank poisoned wine thanks to a twist of fate He staggered and he fell calling softly out to her "Julie, you know I love you-" but the rest was just a blur. She remembered weeping softly on his still warm chest, taking out her knife holding it to her breast "If I can not live with you I shall not live at all!" She plunged the knife into her heart sobbing through her fall The world around her seemed so dark she couldn't keep from shaking she looked over to where he lay he seemed to be awakening He rose and then he walked to her filling her heart with fear. He then bent down and looked at her and said "Hello my dear." He laughed and then continued on in a voice so strangely cold "Sorry it had to end this way but Juliette, you were getting old You see I found someone new someone so much better It was her idea to get rid of you... I wish you could have met her He bent down and placed a ...

death is with me each night I go to sleep into my room he descends into my heart he creeps he holds me like a child he brushes away my tears he deepens all my sorrows he increases all my fears through my dreams he takes me takes me to his land I learn to fly beside him yet I would fall without his hand we explore my darker side see bitterness and dread the reasons I am living that will leave me when I'm dead we slip into a memory he assumes the role you play my soul rejects that part of me when the night becomes the day so if I can't remember why I loved you so don't be sad or angry dear in death my love will grow

Desert

In the desert the world is vast the horizon looks so close you could reach it in a day sandy winds reek havoc on the banners over the door of the bridal tent behind her heavily lined eyes look toward the night sky and wonder why the gods would allow her to be sold like a horse carrier pigeon or whore a magnificent beast covered with shimmering gold jewels to stand before the world and marry a man she has never even seen she looks to the fading stars thinks of another she will never see again Morning comes swiftly to the desert a giant orb of flame bursts forth in the endless sky she can't find his name hidden in the henna patterns on her hand stirring winds snatch the veil from her hair she watches it flutter free, free through the air turning away from the newly rising sun long hair flies behind her teased by the wind that she fights against making her way back

Fairy Poem

A forlorn frown mars a childish face a single tear falls in disgrace a hurt far worse than a broken wing to be shunned for the song you sing the birds take off in jealous droves mocking voices heard in the cloves an angry chirp, a mocking glare is too much for her to bear as she leaves the light grows dim the air has lost its sacred hymn her song is gone and so's her power the stem grows weak on every flower a man though dressed in clothes so poor can not hide his magical lure his fairy princess, he loved so much a tiny dream, he could not touch through the blossoms their love lived on but where is the dream if love is gone though its been less than one hour death has come to every flower he shakes and stares and falls down dead his bag of birdseed left unshed the birds realize what has been done their demise has just begun
