The Girl by the Water

The girl by the water
is unraveling threads
puzzling more than destroying.

She is at peace
far from her home
where comforting scents can be cloying.

The wind in the grass
carries a song
though changed, is as old as time.

Cumulus clouds
set in wide azure sky
tranquility's own paradigm.

The unraveled thread
is swept away
lost - in the forest behind her.

When they come looking
she'll be right where she is
just watching the clear water stir.
